City of Arlington Has First Commercial Property Search Website with City Data Visible on Google Map

Economic development branch upgrades popular commercial property search website with first of its kind Google Maps application

Arlington, TX (PRWEB) February 2, 2009 -- With the current economic slowdown, local government has to do more than ever to help commercial real estate professionals and local businesses market the business advantages that Arlington provides. To do so, The City of Arlington today updated their commercial property listings and analysis website, Arlington iSites (http://www.ArlingtoniSites.com), with a first-of-its-kind online mapping interface. First launched in 2003, Arlington iSites now offers listings of nearly 200 commercial properties as well as in-depth demographic data for the entire city.

"Arlington iSites is all about providing easy, intuitive information that allows the viewer to make investment decisions," says Trey Yelverton, Arlington's Deputy City Manager a self-professed avid Arlington iSites user.

The updated release of the website features a new user-friendly interface and some never-before-seen technology applied to an economic development website, including parcel, zoning, schools, traffic counts, TIRZ Zones and rail lines "layered" over a Google Maps interface. The new site also allows visitors to view Arlington using Google Earth and Google Maps Street View. Users can also quickly measure any distance on the map, select and filter certain areas of the city and quickly determine exact GPS coordinates at the click of a mouse.

"The use of the new Google Maps technology is a continuation of Arlington's efforts to be a creative leader in economic development tools and practices. By embracing this technology, we are providing our brokers and site selectors with an enhanced tool to conduct business," said Robert Sturns, Arlington's Economic Development Manager.

Visitors to Arlington iSites can rapidly tailor these maps and reports to suit their needs and access data that would normally take weeks to collect and thousands of dollars to obtain from specialty data researchers. Available properties can be viewed, along with size, use, cost, development incentives, and contact information. Corresponding demographic reports such as labor force, education levels, consumer spending, and age can be created. In addition, businesses are mapped by industry showing their distribution and concentrations throughout Arlington.

The continued improvement and use of Arlington iSites strengthens the partnership between the City of Arlington and commercial real estate professionals in the city. The city government is promoting available properties, and real estate professionals are assisting in attracting new and better jobs to the region.

Another value-added feature of the website is its integration with a national site selection search engine called ZoomProspector (http://www.ZoomProspector.com), which allows businesses worldwide to do a national search of cities and commercial properties that match their unique criteria.
